Saatchi & Saatchi Cape Town Marks World AIDs Day

03 DEC 2007

Cape Town - To mark World AIDS Day on 1st December, Rolf Fitschen and Gareth Cohen, members of the creative team at Saatchi & Saatchi South Africa's Cape Town office, decided to bring the rambunctious bunnies that adorn the outside of their building into line.

Red ribbons were placed on the one hundred plus rabbits decorating the windows over the main entrance that normally symbolise the procreation of ideas.  For the next month, the rabbits will be "spreading the message and not the virus."

It is hoped this initiative that will serve as a reminder to staff, clients and the huge number of commuters that pass the Saatchi & Saatchi office every day.

As the team says, "Living in a society where AIDS is part of everyday reality, we felt it neccessary to highlight the fact that AIDS spreads easily and that through education and understanding of the disease we can beat it!  Every day thousands of Cape Town motorists fly by our building - distinctive for its bunny facade - on their way to or from work.  So, we figured what better way to get the message out there than by using the furry little creatures' lax attitudes towards sex?"
