Conill is Most Awarded U.S. Agency at FIAP

19 APR 2011

Conill at FIAP 2011Los Angeles - For the second time in three years Conill earned more awards than any other U.S. agency at the Festival Iberoamericano De La Publicidad (FIAP) held April 12-15 in Buenos Aires. The agency won four silver awards and earned finalist honors in four categories at the venerable creative competition.

Gum Monster, from the Toyota Yaris "A quien se le ocurrio esto?" (Who thought of this?) campaign led the way with a silver award for technical production. The overall effort combined animation, user generated content and social networking to express the magic of the vehicle through the narrative of young Latinos. To produce the user-generated campaign, a group of young people were invited to a studio where they participated in a story-telling forum. Each was asked to complete the sentence, "There was once a Yaris..." The most visually interesting stories were translated into animated film clips, such as "it started to rain little colored balls; thousands of eyes were looking at it from different directions; and then my Yaris grew wings and started to fly to escape the meteorite."

Conill's campaign for the Consulate General of Argentina earned silver awards in three categories. Two 30-second commercials "Lineup" and "Cuchillo" spread the word about the 2010 Argentina New Cinema Festival that took place in Hollywood, CA. Both spots took a humorous turn on the hassle and length of time it takes to go from Argentina to Los Angeles.

"The work coming out of the Latin American region is perhaps the most creatively robust in the industry," said Chief Creative Officer Pablo Buffagni. "To have our work stand out among such a richly talented field of competitors is incredibly gratifying for me. It's a testament to the wonderful people we have across our shop."

FIAP is considered by many Latin agencies to be the most important advertising awards competition next to Cannes. Festival judges review entries submitted by agencies throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, Portugal and the U.S. Hispanic market.
