Ian Rowden
Ian Rowden is Chairman & CEO, Asia Pacific. Ian leads the Saatchi & Saatchi and Fallon business across 17 countries and 20 offices with over 1,500 employees in the most significant growth region for the global Network.
Before joining Saatchi & Saatchi in February 2008, Ian was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Wendy’s International, the world’s #3 QSR Hamburger Restaurant Chain with revenues of US $7.8 billion from operations in 20 countries.
Prior to that, Ian was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Callaway Golf where he oversaw the company’s global marketing and product development.
A native of Sydney, Australia, Ian started his career with the Coca-Cola company in Sydney in early 1980. Eight years later he left Coca-Cola to serve as General Manager, Marketing for the Power Brewing Company in Brisbane, and later became a Director and Managing Partner of DDB Needham Advertising in Sydney. Rowden returned to Coca-Cola in 1992 when he was appointed Vice President of Marketing for the company’s South Pacific Region.
From 1993-1995 Ian was Vice President and Region Director for the Coca-Cola Company in China, Hong Kong, Korea, and Taiwan and led the company in its expansion efforts in this critical geographic region. In November 1995 he was promoted to Vice President and Director of Worldwide Advertising based in Atlanta, Georgia, where he presided over the global brand strategy and advertising efforts of the world’s premier beverage company, a position he held until he joined Callaway Golf in September 2000.
His career has spanned four continents, a fact that has helped him develop a keen sense and strong track record of applying his global brand marketing experience, insights, and knowledge to direct some of the world’s best known brands.
A 20 year marketing veteran, Ian was named into the Advertising Hall of Achievement in 1999. Sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, it is the advertising industry’s premier award for outstanding professionals aged 40 and under.
Ian spent his teenage years in London pursuing a professional football (soccer) career with West Ham Football Club, one of England’s premier professional clubs. This pursuit flourished into a distinguished career, during which he represented his country at various amateur and professional levels over a 12-year period.
Ian is a board member of the Miami Ad School, a non-profit organisation and the world’s leading source of advertising creative talent with schools in Miami, San Francisco, New York, Sydney, London, Madrid, Sao Paulo, Hamburg, Shanghai and Minneapolis.
He is also a board member of Sydney Football Club in the Hyundai A-League.
Ian attended The University of Wollongong in Sydney, Australia from 1979-1983, majoring in Economics. He currently resides in Sydney with his wife, Alyson; son, Jackson; and daughters, Taylor and Emma.
